To protect, preserve and enhance the genetic diversity of Canadian plants of economic importance, and their wild relatives, by acquiring, evaluating, researching and documenting plant genetic resources in order to provide fundamental genetic building blocks for crop variety  and bio based product development and plant genetic studies nationally and internationally.
